"Gee, your hair smells terrific!"

Posted on June 17, 2008 at 12:46 a.m.

This may date me but…Do you remember that old shampoo called "Gee, your hair smells terrific"?  The commercial had a girl who told two friends and they told two friends and so on, and so on, and so on... Then the T.V. screen split into a thousand tiny boxes of girls telling other girls the news about this fabulous shampoo.

Well girls, it is your turn to tell two friends about the fabulous Tinkering Ink BLOG. If you read this BLOG on a regular basis then you know my goal was to have 1,000 daily readers by the Summer CHA.  Well we are not quite there yet!

So here is the skinny.

The reader who gets the most friends to visit this BLOG and leave a comment with 1. their user name in it and 2. their favorite Ti product and 3. a comment about that days post so I know they read it… will win a BIG GENEROUS PRIZE PACK filled with our new CHA summer releases… AND you will get them before anyone else!

You and a few other contest winners that is. So here is how you do it…

Pretend you are Beth W (we could all be so lucky) Beth has to get her friends to stop by the blog and leave a comment like this…

#10  Kate commented on June 16, 2008 at 2:36 a.m.:  Beth W is my friend and my favorite Ti product is your butterfly Peek-A-Boo mini book!  Your story about coconut cake lifted my spirits today!

Each friend can only comment one time for one friend… get it?

For instance fake “Kate” above can only comment once for Beth W and no one else.  Once she has visited and posted for her friend, Beth W gets her point towards winning the prize.

Comments from friends can be left on any post starting with this one and ending on the post on the 24th of June.

And BTW you can still buy the shampoo here although the bottle is not as cute anymore!

Now go tell two friends and so on and so on and so on…

#5 MartiC commented on June 17, 2008 at 5:18 a.m.:

My friend is Kimmie (she's the best)! Really! It's hard to pick one product that's my favorite, but if forced to I love the Botannical Bliss line - such yummy colors. OK - you're making me date myself - I do remember those commercials and I did use the shampoo! Thanks for a walk down memory lane. LOL

#6 Morgan commented on June 17, 2008 at 5:36 a.m.:

#8 Dana commented on June 17, 2008 at 6:06 a.m.:

My friend (really is) Beth W - and I like the Peek-a-book transfers heaps! im also partial to the pretty coloured transfers too, and I dont recall this ad- although I do remember demanding the apple scented shampoo as a kid!

#9 Val commented on June 17, 2008 at 6:25 a.m.:

My friend Kimmie asked ever so nicely to come here and it was not a hardship at all! My favorite is Wild Woodland, I love the colors and patterns. Like Marti, I remember this commercial all to well, but I don't think it dates us... I think we can just remember what we saw from the crib!

My Friend is Beth W- and I like the peek-a-book transfers, and never saw the advert for the shampoo, I dont think it ever made it to NZ

#12 Jan commented on June 17, 2008 at 7:10 a.m.:

It is I that Kimmie conned into visiting your blog...lol. And I'm so glad she did. It made me laugh hysterically. It's hard to choose a favorite when there is so many but I am partial to the Noir Blanc line. And yes, I remember the commercials but my mom never bought that shampoo for us kids. She would buy the "Gee Your Hair Smells Cheap" brand. Maybe it was because we didn't know what a small quarter sized amount in the palm of our hands was. Nope, we would pour enough out to wash our entire bodies in it. And it wasn't until I became a parent that I finally understood why she did that. I can go in the bathroom some mornings and find the shampoo bottle squeezed to a pulp and half empty...lol. So I must confess, I buy the cheap brands too.

#13 Amy commented on June 17, 2008 at 7:11 a.m.:

My friend is Beth W and I love the peek a book transfer and the butterfly album. I dont remember the commercial but i have stepped on legos and yes they really hurt.

Hi, I’m Don and I know Beth as my friend from the Fiskateer forum. I am far too young to remember the shampoo commercial you mentioned, but your description gives me an idea for a lay out. Provencial is a darned good line. All this thinking wore me out … it’s time for my nap. ü

I am a friend of Zarischka, my fav TI product is the Botanical Bliss collection...I can TOTALLY relate to the stepping on Lego's my 2 year old has heaps of them, in fact hubby hid the box until he learned that he has to pick them up after himself...he figured it out pretty quickly because he loves his legos!

#53 Casey Lu commented on June 17, 2008 at 5:48 p.m.:

My friend Zarischka sent me here! For me it is a toss up between Provincial or Botanical Bliss as I love both of the color combos! I have seen some really fantastic things done with both of those lines!!! I have never heard of that shampoo! It has an unusual name but hey if it works then why not! I can honestly say that most boy toys hurt! I have stepped on Lego's, Hot Wheel cars(the worst), and action figures. It is not fun and has resulted in a few cuts. Girls toys are less brutal I think, lol! I plan on coming back here ! Great blog!

#54 Linda J commented on June 17, 2008 at 5:49 p.m.:

When it comes to the commercial you guys mention, I don't think I've ever heard of it, maybe I'm too young? Or maybe it just isn't broadcasted where I live.

I'll see if all three of my friends will leave a comment with my name and the other information, but there is no way I can compete with that Lucky Beth W or the exotic sounding Zarischka! I was so happy to attend the 5th anniversary of Scrapbook Territory being open, and got to participate in their classes for the day~ TWELVE of them! One class was making a darling mini acylic and chipboard album. We used "Al Fresco" to cover the chipboard, and I fell in love! (Don't tell anyone, but I rescued the scraps out of the trash because those Summery swirls of pink, green, baby blue, etc. were too pretty to throw away). I'm old enough to remember that commercial, but I was a TV-less Hippy Child at the time!
